The Origination Map
Where Scripture Comes From
How the World’s Scriptures Claim Their Origins, Each Tested on Its Own Terms

About the book
A fair objection, taken seriously: is a test built for one kind of claim rigged against every text that makes a different one?
Readers of The Authentication Test raised it, and this book exists because the objection was fair. Run a fingerprint test on a scripture that claims a hundred hands, or none, and of course it fails, but it has failed the test, not the truth. A method that cannot tell those apart is not a method.
So the same test is not run twice. This book begins by sorting the world’s scriptures by the claim each makes about its own origin, in its own tradition’s mainstream account: dictated speech, composite authorship, no author at all, deliberate anthology, remembered teaching, the words of a sage. It tests each only against the claim it actually makes, and never faults a text for failing to be something it never said it was.
The sorting is not an evasion of the verdict. It is the precondition of a fair one.
What emerges is a map of the whole field, class by class, each tradition’s claim reported in its own terms and tested on its own ground. The Vedas as heard, not composed. The Hebrew scriptures as a library assembled across centuries. The Gospels as inspired testimony. The Buddhist canon as teaching preserved by councils. The Guru Granth Sahib, the Analects and the Tao Te Ching on the ground each claims. And the Quran, as speech that claims a single speaker beyond the human, through one human messenger: the one class that invites every test in full.
Consider how an investigator handles six witnesses who each describe a different event. He does not fault the second for failing to corroborate the first. He asks whether each account is consistent with itself, with the record, and with the kind of thing it claims to be, and he reports where an account is more modest than its reputation as well as where it claims more than it can show. The evidence here is the independent work of philologists, historians and textual scholars, weighed like expert reports entered into evidence.
Where a scripture is examined searchingly, it is because its own claim invited it.
Applied in that way, the map finds the world’s scriptures, in the main, honest about themselves: tradition after tradition describes its own making substantially as it claims, and the book takes care to honour that candour. Five scriptures make the boldest claim. Four do not survive the tests that claim invites, each for a different reason. One is left with no human explanation the tests can sustain.
The book keeps a clear line between what its own tests show and what the earlier volumes of Beyond Human Design established, and credits every finding to the book that makes it. Its tests rule out the human author; Volumes I to IV had already identified the Author, by evidence of a different kind. It airs every alternative, including the charge that the tests were chosen because one text passes them, and answers it in the open.
The book is written for four readers, the scholar, the sceptic, the seeker and the believer, and treats the traditions of others as their own followers would wish them to be written about.
Written by Abdul Zahir Sheikh, a Certified Fraud Examiner and Senior Partner at BDO East Africa with four decades of investigative experience across fourteen countries, this is the book that gives every tradition the hearing its own claim deserves, and shows what one forensic method reveals when it is applied fairly across the whole field.
Six kinds of claim. One standard of fairness. What each reader does with the map is his own.
